Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs
President,
King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences

It is such a privilege to welcome you to the second edition of the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit being held on January 25-26, 2023 to present and discuss the latest developments in the medical biotechnology globally with the aim of forging global strategic partnerships in this fast growing field with the participation of local, regional and international biotechnology community including academic, industrial and government entities.

We are truly honored to have this summit benefiting from the privileged patronage of His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and with the participation of His Royal Highness The Minister of the National Guard.
This is true testament of the utmost importance given by our country leadership to this strategic field of biotechnology. We have come long way from a long journey successfully tackling, as a global community, the seriously threatening COVID19 global pandemic, which has tested the resilience of the global economic and healthcare systems around the world.
Much has been learned from COVID19 global pandemic, in particular how best to preempt future pandemics and to adapt faster and more agile responses from the pharma and biotech players, as well as from regulatory agencies.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the strong leadership commitment and support to the development of thriving biotechnology ecosystem in the country is witnessed by the creation of several national initiatives including but not limited to the National Biotechnology Strategy Committee led by senior government officials, as well as Riyadh Biotechnology City and few other initiatives in the pipeline.
This comes at no surprise as the Saudi National Vision 2030 defining the country’s long-term vision, addresses health and economic challenges, increasing non- oil revenues, supporting and strengthening innovations and technological development among key strategic areas in the national strategy and transformation program.

In RGMBS 2023 we aim at bringing together, in a unique interactive and dynamic global summit, key local and international players in biotech R&D and pharma industry to formulate what will be the Riyadh Declaration for Biotechnology in order to make KSA a gateway to thriving biotechnology.

Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit 2023 will bring together creative minds, enthusiastic entrepreneurs and investors in the field to push the boundaries of our existing thinking and practice and propose a way forward that will impact the country, the region and the rest of the world with direct impact on health and economy.

The Goal

We aim at bringing together in a unique interactive and dynamic global summit key local and international players in biotech R&D and industry (RDI) and to formulate what will be the Riyadh Declaration for Biotechnology in order to make KSA a gateway to thriving biotechnology. We are now witnessing the dawn of new era where we can no longer look at biomedical R&D centers separately from healthcare innovation centers and Biotechnology enterprises. COVID19 global pandemic has raised a serious alarm that the existing Biotech and Biopharma in their current model is still facing major challenges to rapidly and effectively cope with global health pandemics. Therefore, our proposed Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit, in its second edition 2023, will bring together taught leaders in the field to push the boundaries of our existing thinking and practice and propose innovative models and initiatives that will impact the country, the region and the rest of the world with direct impact on health and economy.
